Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) strives to enhance local communities’ ability to address the interconnected needs of humans, animals, plants, and natural resources through collaboration and the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and resources among stakeholders. It aims to develop a climate-resilient and socially equitable, diversified sovereign food system through the advancement of community-led agroecology.
BARCIK works in 5 thematic areas: Agroecology; Food Sovereignty; Climate Justice and Disaster Resilience; Gender, Diversity and Social Inclusion; and Urban Transformation & Livable Cities
BARCIK was established in 1997 by a group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers. As of 2026, it operates in eight districts, and works with over 75,000 families, involving approximately over 320,000 people in Bangladesh.
