En mars \u2013 \u00e0 la Journ\u00e9e internationale des femmes, en plus \u2013 l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e l\u00e9gislative du Guatemala a approuv\u00e9 la Loi pour la protection de la vie et de la famille.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dans un pays o\u00f9 l\u2019avortement est d\u00e9j\u00e0 ill\u00e9gal, la nouvelle loi aurait impos\u00e9 des peines parmi les plus s\u00e9v\u00e8res en Am\u00e9rique latine en cas d\u2019avortement. Elle aurait aussi fait reculer les droits des personnes LGBTQI+ : elle interdisait le mariage et l\u2019adoption pour les couples de m\u00eame sexe, et d\u00e9fendait d\u2019aborder \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole les questions relatives \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 sexuelle et aux personnes LGBTQI+.<\/p>\n<h2>D\u00e9fense des droits LGBTQI+ au Guatemala<\/h2>\n<p>La r\u00e9action a \u00e9t\u00e9 instantan\u00e9e. L\u2019homologue d\u2019Inter Pares, Asociaci\u00f3n Lambda, a aussit\u00f4t lanc\u00e9 une p\u00e9tition contre la loi, recueillant pr\u00e8s de 100\u202f000 signatures en quelques jours seulement. Cette r\u00e9action rapide et l\u2019ampleur du toll\u00e9, tant sur la sc\u00e8ne nationale qu\u2019internationale, ont incit\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident \u00e0 opposer son veto au projet de loi une semaine plus tard!<\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 cette victoire, le Guatemala n\u2019offre encore aucune protection contre la discrimination sur la base de l\u2019orientation sexuelle et l\u2019identit\u00e9 de genre, ni aucune reconnaissance juridique des personnes transgenres. Asociaci\u00f3n Lambda a encore beaucoup de pain sur la planche.<\/p>\n<p>Outre son travail de plaidoyer pour les droits des personnes LGBTQI+, Asociaci\u00f3n Lambda travaille directement avec les personnes queers et transgenres afin de d\u00e9velopper leurs capacit\u00e9s d\u2019activistes, en plus d\u2019offrir aux femmes transgenres des espaces s\u00fbrs o\u00f9 s\u2019organiser pour d\u00e9fendre leur droit de vivre sans violence et sans humiliation. La violence contre les personnes LGBTQI+ est plus aigu\u00eb en milieu rural.
