L\u2019un d\u2019eux, <strong>le Projet Tamsin Lithium<\/strong>, se trouve sur <strong>le territoire non c\u00e9d\u00e9 de la Premi\u00e8re Nation de Long Point (Long Point First Nation-LPFN)<\/strong>. En 2018, Sayona Mining a acquis un claim sur ces terres, et des douzaines d\u2019autres, en vertu du droit minier de la province. Selon les lois sur les mines, <strong>la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 mini\u00e8re n\u2019est pas oblig\u00e9e d\u2019obtenir le consentement des Premi\u00e8res Nations, ni m\u00eame de les consulter<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Quand elle a su que Sayona d\u00e9tenait un claim sur ses terres, <strong>la LPFN a sonn\u00e9 l\u2019alarme<\/strong>\u202f: les activit\u00e9s mini\u00e8res et le ruissellement allaient <strong>causer un tort irr\u00e9parable au lac Simard<\/strong>, d\u2019une importance vitale pour la collectivit\u00e9. Une mine <strong>mettrait gravement en p\u00e9ril<\/strong> ses pratiques traditionnelles \u2013 la chasse, la p\u00eache, le trappage et la cueillette.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>La LPFN s\u2019est mobilis\u00e9e avec d\u2019autres groupes d\u2019\u00e9cologistes et de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile<\/strong>, dont <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.interpares.ca\/counterpart\/mining-watch\/\">Mines Alerte<\/a>, homologue d\u2019Inter Pares. Avec l\u2019appui de Mines Alerte, <strong>elle a mis en lumi\u00e8re le risque pos\u00e9 par les mines pour ses terres et son mode de vie<\/strong>. Par la suite, Mines Alerte et les groupes ont d\u00e9couvert que <strong>Sayona Mining avait tromp\u00e9 le public et le gouvernement<\/strong> quant \u00e0 l\u2019ampleur pr\u00e9vue d\u2019un autre de ses sites miniers \u2013 le projet Authier Lithium \u2013 <strong>afin d\u2019\u00e9viter une \u00e9valuation compl\u00e8te de l\u2019impact sur l\u2019environnement<\/strong>. Inquiets de cette esquive, <strong>la LPFN et ses alli\u00e9s ont appel\u00e9 le gouvernement du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 mener une \u00e9valuation environnementale compl\u00e8te<\/strong> des trois projets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dans l\u2019attente d\u2019une r\u00e9ponse, la Premi\u00e8re Nation de Long Point et Mines Alerte ont men\u00e9 <strong>leur propre \u00e9valuation environnementale<\/strong> du projet Tansim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00ab\u202fLes r\u00e9sultats de notre \u00e9valuation doivent \u00eatre d\u00e9terminants dans la d\u00e9cision d\u2019autoriser ou non le projet\u202f\u00bb, dit Steeve Mathias, ex-Chef du Conseil de la Premi\u00e8re Nation de Long Point.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Selon Mines Alerte, <strong>les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s mini\u00e8res au Qu\u00e9bec d\u00e9tiennent des claims sur une superficie de la taille de Cuba<\/strong>.
