
Meet Ranjan
Dr. Ranjan Datta is the Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Community Disaster Research at Mount Royal University, Alberta, and a recognized leader in community disaster resilience on both national and international levels.
With a career dedicated to impactful research, he has significantly advanced fields including community-based disaster response, Indigenous environmental sustainability, anti-racist and decolonial environmental justice, and land-based climate adaptation. His work emphasizes meaningful collaborations with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Canada, Ghana, Bangladesh, and India.
Beyond academia, Dr. Datta actively contributes to organizations such as the City of Calgary, the UN Environmental Program, and the International Science Council, underscoring his commitment to transformative, community-led change. His interdisciplinary research champions Indigenous sustainability worldwide, supporting impactful, community-led initiatives across diverse global contexts.
